Many works of literature describe the idyllic land of "Eldorado." Voltaire wrote of Candide's journeys through the world. While exploring South America, he discovers the land of Eldorado hidden in the mountains, a place where happiness and simplicity thrive. Although the rest of the world succumbed to turmoil, Eldorado somehow remained a place of peace.
